It's Official — Bulgaria Is Hosting Eurovision 2027
BNT Director General Milena Milotinova declared — "Sofia can do it, Bulgaria can do it and BNT can do it." The official host city announcement is expected in August or September 2026.
Which City Will Host?
🏙️ Sofia — The Frontrunner
Arena Sofia holds nearly 18,000 spectators — well above the EBU's 10,000 minimum. Sofia Mayor Vassil Terziev called it "the best prepared city." It also hosted Junior Eurovision 2015.
🌊 Varna — Dara's Hometown
Beautiful poetry — Eurovision in the city where Dara was born. The mayor is pushing hard. However, the largest indoor venue holds ~6,000, below the EBU minimum.
🏛️ Plovdiv — Europe's Cultural Gem
One of the oldest continuously inhabited cities in Europe. European Capital of Culture 2019. A heritage Eurovision unlike anything seen before.
🌅 Burgas — The Black Sea Wildcard
Brand new Arena Burgas opened 2023. Stunning coastal scenery and a unique identity for broadcasters who love distinctive postcard footage.
